The Cyclos Montagnards Challenge
From Seattle to the top of the world (and back)
“The Ultimate Cycling Challenge”
—Fifty Places to Bike Before You Die
Ride from Seattle to the highest roads on the Washington’s highest volcanoes: Windy Ridge on Mt. St. Helens (Loowit) and Sunrise on Mt. Rainier (Tahoma).spa
Depending on the course you choose, this ride is about 530 km (330 miles) long, with three major climbs and some of the most spectacular roads of Washington State. This challenge is offered with three different time limits:
Gold Level: 24 Hours
Silver Level: 36 Hours
Bronze Level: 48 Hours
The Cyclos Montagnards are not big on rules. Here are a few things to consider:
Up to five riders may team up for Cyclos Montagnards challenges. Outside help is not permitted, neither from support cars nor from other riders. All riders on a team must finish the ride.
Any human-powered vehicle may be used, provided it is powered by human power alone—no e-assist! This includes bicycles, trikes, recumbents, tandems, HPVs, etc.
The ride must be documented either by designating controls (stores, etc., as well as photo locations), or by submitting a GPS file. Riders also take photos at the start/finish in Leschi and at the waypoints on Windy Ridge (Loowit/Mt. St. Helens) and Sunrise (Tahoma/Mt. Rainier).
Please contact us for more details if you’re planning to complete this challenge.
