Kong Fùfù on Rene Herse at UCI Gravel Worlds

We’re excited that our friend Kong Fùfù (he prefers to remain anonymous) has been selected to represent France at the UCI Gravel Worlds this weekend.

Naturally, I asked him which tire he’d run. His reply: “I will ride the 700×44 Manastash Ridge. I don’t like to do what the others do, always trying to find the narrowest possible tires for a given course. Perhaps you think you’re going faster because the bike vibrates more, but that’s not really true.”

Kong Fùfù’s independent streak goes beyond his tire choice. When he isn’t found on the podium of a big gravel race, he loves to explore the lesser-known roads in the Pyrenees Mountains. At some point, we plan to do a feature in Bicycle Quarterly with his amazing rides and discoveries. For now, good luck this weekend in Italy, Kong Fùfù!
