Taking 1″ headsets to the next level: Needle bearings last as long as your bike, and provide a little damping to reduce the risk that your bike will shimmy. To ensure perfect alignment even under hard braking, the upper and lower bearings are oriented in opposite directions.
The Rene Herse Ultimate Headset uses replaceable needle bearings. The headset is not anodized, so it conducts electricity—important when using the frame/fork as the return path for your generator lighting system. A locknut allows using headset spacers and cable hangers.
Pro Tip: For ultra-secure headset adjustments, file the back of the steerer tube flat and use a Rene Herse Threaded Headset Spacer.
