Back in Stock: Road Tubeless and TPU
Rene Herse is best known for gravel and all-road tires, and less for pure road tires. That says more about sponsorship than about the performance of our tires. For example, newly-minted world champion Ashlin Barry (U23) races on Rene Herse tires when he’s free to choose his equipment, in gravel and mountain bike events. When he’s racing on the road, he’s bound by team contracts. That doesn’t mean our tires can’t keep up: Rene Herse tires been ridden to podium places in big road races, like the Tour of the Gila, and even US Pro Championships (below, Lauren de Crescenzo in 2022).
Off the race course, our road tires have developed a strong following. The same speed, comfort and durability that riders appreciate in our gravel tires also apply to our road tires. Our most popular model is the 31 mm Orondo Grade. This tire comes in two versions: The ‘TC’ is tubeless-compatible, with an ultra-supple liner that makes the tire leak-proof up to 90 psi (6.2 bar) and a carbon bead to ensure safety at those high road pressures. The ‘TPU Only’ is intended for tubes. It ditches the liner for even lower weight and a little extra suppleness, but it keeps the carbon bead, ultra-fine casing, and grippy tread rubber. We sell this tire as a set with a matching TPU tube, ready to go.
The Orondos have been in hot demand this year, and we ran out of some casings a while ago. Good news: We have all models back in stock.
We also have more TPU tubes on the way: They are scheduled to arrive at the end of the week. And next week, we finally expect our shipment of all-black tires. (The latest delay was a typhoon that kept the ship from leaving the harbor.) TPU Sealant is also on the way, scheduled to arrive in about 1-2 weeks.
