Rene Herse Cycling Caps

Rene Herse Cycling Caps

We are really excited about our new cycling caps. They are great to wear under a helmet, or just by themselves.

The quality is superb – as you’d expect, since they are made by Walz, a company known for their high quality. They are made in the USA.

Best of all, the caps are available in two sizes: S/M and L/XL. Because, as you can see above, ‘One Size Fits All’ just isn’t true for many of us.

I’m sure this has been explained already, but why are there no Rene Herse Jerseys? That is, Jerseys like the ones you sell, but with the Rene Herse logotype on them?

We’re only releasing products after we’ve thoroughly tested them. You may have seen photos of our team wearing Rene Herse jerseys at this year’s Paris-Brest-Paris. That was part of the testing. Jersey materials are tricky. Some riders are allergic to wool. Many synthetics become clammy when moist, so you get chilled on long descents after you’ve perspired on the uphill. We won’t release a jersey until we’ve found a fabric that works well in all conditions.

I was just thinking that the dark blue topographical pattern from the website background would look great on a jersey. Please consider making one with this pattern!

Fortunately it has been shown that wool is not an allergan. Some people have sensitive skin and coarse wools with heavier microns can cause irritation, but fine and superfine merino has been shown to be less irritating than cotton and can improve symptoms of skin conditions such as eczema. Wool jerseys for all!

Let’s not get into a discussion of the merits of wool here. I love it, but I also know people who can’t wear it.

Is the bill larger than traditional cycling caps? Normal cycling caps do not have a large enough bill to properly shade the eyes from the sun, especially if the sunshine is coming from a side angle. Those caps seem to only work well if one is a cyclops. Also, do you plan on having an alternate version with a subdued logo, or logo-less front bill?

The bill is about the size of all cycling caps. I think if it were bigger, it would be bothersome at high speeds or even lift off your head. However, the top of the bill has no logo, so you usually don’t see a logo at all. Only when you flip up the bill is the logo visible.
